Wolters Kluwer Lippincott

Open Access Publishing in Wolters Kluwer Lippincott Journals

Researchers can publish their articles open access under CC BY license with no article processing charges (APC) during the agreement term 31.12.2022–31.12.2024.

If the journal does not offer CC BY then either a CC BY-NC or CC BY-NC-ND license can be applied.

There is a limited number of funded APCs. The number of available funded APCs will decrease each time an author places an order that has had its APC funding approved by their institution.

Am I eligible?

You are eligible if you meet the criteria below:

  • You are affiliated with one of the participating FinELib institutions

  • You are the corresponding author of the article who is to communicate with Wolters Kluwer through the peer review process.

  • Your article is an original research article including systematic reviews and case reports or a review article

  • Your article has been accepted for publication in one of the eligible journals (xls). Alterations to the list are possible during the agreement period.

  • The acceptance date of your article is between 31.12.2022–31.12.2024.

Instructions to the Corresponding Author

Step 1. Submitting an article

The corresponding author who is entitled to the APC funding from their institution must submit the paper. Authors cannot be changed to become a corresponding author post acceptance.

  • When submitting your manuscript, select your institution name from a drop-down list, and insert your institutional email address in the system if it's not already there. Please note that your affiliation to FinELib institution will be identified through your email address and the institution you have selected.

  • Choose open access option by selecting "Yes" in the questionnaire, see below:

Step 2. Once your article is accepted for publication

If your article is accepted for publication and funded APCs remain available, your institution will be asked to approve the use of the funded APC.

  • If your funding request is approved by your institution, you will receive an approval email:

  • You are also required to complete the License to Publish (LTP).

  • As the APC is covered by a "University License Agreement" (ULA) with Wolters Kluwer, authors must select ‘ULA’ from the drop-down menu in Schedule B of the LTP, see below:

  • Wolters Kluwer will publish your article open access free of charge under the CC BY license according to your choice. If the journal does not offer CC BY then either a CC BY-NC or CC BY-NC-ND license can be applied.

If your funding request is denied, you will receive an email including the reason of the denial (such as APC funding exceeds maximum limit, questioning author affiliation):

  • If you have not identified yourself as affiliated to FinELib institution or have not selected open access prior to publication, you shall have a 365-day window after publication of the article to identify such affiliation and retrospectively request to make your article open access. The conversion may also be done before publication of the article.

  • In case you have erroneously paid your own APC for an article accepted for publication during the agreement term, you may request a refund of the relevant APC. Refund requests must be made within 365 days of publication of the article.

If you have selected other than CC BY license, you may change the license to CC BY, provided the journal offers such license, whithin 90 days of publication of the article.

If your funding has not been accepted or all APC funds have been used up, you will need to cover the costs of open access publishing yourself.
