Open Access Publishing in MJS Journals

Authors affiliated with participating institutions can publish their research Open Access (OA) in eligible MJS journals at no cost to themselves. The publishing costs are covered by the author’s institution.

Am I eligible?

You are eligible, if you meet the following criteria:

Need support? Not sure of your eligibility? Email invoice@mjspublishing.se or contact your library/information service.

I am eligible, what do I need to do?

Step 1 - Manuscript submission

When submitting your paper, make sure you indicate the qualifying institution (the university or the university hospital) as your primary affiliation and use your university email address or, if you don't have one, the one associated with your university hospital.

Step 2 - Manuscript acceptance

Once your paper has been peer-reviewed and accepted for publication, you will receive an email asking you to complete an online payment form.

  • APC payment options: Select "FinELib (consortium in Finland)". See the screenshot below.

  • Click “Nästa” to proceed.

  • Confirm that you have read and understood the eligibility criteria.

  • Provide the requested information including you institutional email address (again the university one or an email address associated with your university hospital).

  • If requested by your institutions, provide a payment reference or a project number. (This mostly applies to authors affiliated with the University of Turku.)

  • Click “Nästa” to proceed.

If your article complies with all relevant eligibility criteria, your APC will be automatically waived and covered by your institution.

Please note that if your request is not approved (i.e. if you are not eligible), you will need to arrange payment of the APC via another method.
